Beijing Public Transport Warranty and Centralized Lubrication Management Experience

The statistics show that at present world's 1/3 to 1/2 energy is consumed on various frictions and that 80% components and parts are damaged due to wear. Therefore, high-quality lubrication management is very important for bus safety and service life. Since 2003, the lubrication systems of Beijing Public Transport operating vehicles have upgraded to automatic lubrication system from original manually operated lubrication system. Compared to a manually operated lubrication system, an automatic lubrication system is technically improved so that the assemblies and components on board are safely and reliably lubricated and therefore the overall vehicle technical level is improved.

On August 16, 2017, the second International Summit Forum of Machinery Lubrication and Equipment Health Management Industrial Chain and Sub-Forum of Commercial Vehicles were held in Zhengzhou, He'nan. On behalf of Beijing Public Transport Group, Chief Engineer Chu Juwen of Beijing Public Transport Group Warranty Branch delivered a speech. "During operation of bus automatic lubrication system, the grease supply to each articulation on board is mainly based on working experience. It is unavoidable some articulations are over or under lubricated," Chu said. With development of science and technology, it is recommended using microcomputer based control technology to strengthen the control and monitoring of lubrication of articulations on board and make real-time adjustment of grease supply.

An automatic lubrication system is a fully enclosed lubrication system consisting of pipelines, which may effectively prevent pollutant (sand and dust) from being entered, safe and environmentally friendly. A manually operated lubrication system is an open system, which may cause pollutant (sand and dust) entering into the system, leading to worn components and parts, and resulting in pollution to environment due to excessive grease.

With optimal performance of automatic lubrication system, the assemblies and components on board may be effectively lubricated for reduced faults to assembly due to improper lubrication, for increased overhauling interval of some assemblies, for prolonged service life of lubricated components by 60 to 80 percent and therefore extended vehicle service life. A manually operated lubrication system is unable to ensure effective lubrication of components and parts, having adverse influence on vehicle technical performance. An automatic lubrication system provides lubrication in an all-round way, which may further improve vehicle comfort and safety.
